Meet the ElectroBike Air-33, an eco-friendly electric bicycle that runs on electricity with a peddling option so the only thing that runs out of gas is you. But don’t worry, if you’re tired from a long bike ride, the Air-33 boasts that it’s “so light that anyone can carry it.”
The Air-33 offers riders a three-way option: “traditional peddling” if you want the exercise; “hybrid pedal assist” for those in-between mountain peak treks; or “completely electric” if you’re in a rush to get to your destination or just want to coast – it goes 20 mph without pedaling. The rechargeable battery charges in two hours taking you 25 miles or up to 35 miles in hybrid pedal assist mode. No worries, there’s also an upgradeable battery available for more cycling life. What’s more, according to their Kickstarter campaign, it’s lockable and removable “making it easy to charge and hard to steal.”
Founded in 2012 by Eduardo Cymerman, the competition was stiff with eight other e-bikes already on the market.
Their mission statement on their website claims what sets Air-33 apart from the rest is “to solve some of modern urban living’s most pressing problems with commuters, such as time wasted in traffic congestion, exorbitant fees for parking cars in dense metropolitan areas, skyrocketing gas prices, and the damage that fossil fuels cause our planet.”
Air-33 is ultra lightweight weighing in at 33 pounds – plus it’s foldable, turning into a wheelie so you can roll it around when you’re not riding it.
With just a little over two weeks to go, Air-33 needs a couple more grand to reach its 75K Kickstarter goal. They even offer an early bird option with a pledge of only $799, where you will get the ElectroBike at a significant savings on its expected retail price of $2,299. There are also plenty still available for $899. For a pledge of $1,999, you get the Air-33 plus a two-pack upgraded battery.
ElectroBike wants to redefine urban mobility, cleaner air, and faster commutes. Such companies as Forbes, Los Angeles Business Journal and CNN have all touted the Air-33 and its eco-friendly way to travel and get exercise.
You can be anywhere in the world to receive your very own Air-33, with an estimated delivery date of February 2017. Targeting a wide demographic their promotional video says how you can benefit from their technology on wheels, “whether you’re in bad traffic, classes on the other side of the hill, or cravings at two in the morning.”
So whether you’re a commuter, a student, or even a stoner – the Air-33 just may be a great alternative to the old-fashioned Schwinn.
