The tiny house movement began in the late 90s when a man named Jay Shafer started the Tumbleweed Tiny House Company, which sold building plans and information on how to live the tiny house lifestyle. A typical tiny house can be anywhere from 85 to 400 square feet and be either mobile or non-mobile.

People choose to live in a tiny houses for a variety of reasons, but usually it’s to live a care-free, debt-free lifestyle.
