Florida domestic violence survivor and spokesperson, Melissa Dohme, has found a real life prince charming.

Proposal

It was a very touching moment as Dohme’s happy ending played out before thousands of onlookers at a Tampa Bay Ray’s game Monday night.  As Dohme was preparing to toss the first pitch of the game, she suddenly noticed her boyfriend, Cameron Hill, running onto the field to present her with a ball, but this ball was special, because on it he had written, “Will you marry me?”  She said YES.

Why is this proposal making headlines you ask?  It’s because this is a unique and miraculous love story.  Before Hill became Dohme’s boyfriend, and now fiance, he literally saved her life.  Three years earlier, in January 2012, Cameron Hill, who works as an EMT, was one of the first responders on the scene to find Melissa Dohme just barely clinging to life after being stabbed more than 30 times by her ex-boyfriend.  The two had never met before the incident, but for some reason, Hill knew he would meet her again, even when many were saying it would take a miracle for Dohme to survive the brutal attack.

Well a miracle is exactly what happened, and months later they did meet again and the rest is history.  Hill became her pillar of strength through the recovery and healing process and his love helped her to re-write her own history.  In 2013 Dohme told the Tampa Bay Times, “When I look back on that night, I can’t think of it as all bad anymore because I met Cameron.  He’s the one I’ve been waiting for.  My fairy tale.”
