Katy Perry takes a dig at Taylor Swift over Twitter feud
Twitter was a mad house when Taylor Swift and Nicki Minaj had their dispute on Tuesday, July 21, 2015. The Anaconda hitmaker, Minaj, took aim at the pop star after Swift’s Bad Blood promo landed a Video of the Year nomination for the 2015 MTV Video Music Awards, and Anaconda did not.
Minaj suggested her video was snubbed for the top prize because it didn’t feature “women with very slim bodies”, prompting Swift to respond.
The feud rumbled on throughout Tuesday with Swift eventually trying to make peace by urging Minaj to join her onstage at the awards show next month, August 2015, if she wins.
A day later, July 22, 2015, Katy Perry offered her take on the social media altercation by tweeting her opinion.
Many pop pundits believe Swift’s song Bad Blood is about her feud with Perry, who she previously accused of being unfriendly at an awards show and “sabotaging” a business deal.
Perry has her own issues with the Video Music Awards nominations it seems – she’s disappointed Rihanna’s B**ch Better Have My Money promo didn’t get a best video mention, which she makes clear as she continued to share her thoughts on Twitter.
Meanwhile, Minaj returned to social media on Wednesday, July 22, 2015, to further address her disagreement with Swift, posting a clip of a Marie Claire article on the issue, thanking the outlet and some others who, she said, “used their voice to help me make a very obvious point,” referring to her stance on misrepresentation in the media.
Clarifying her own statements, she added, “Nothing to do with any of the women (nominated), but everything to do with a system that doesn’t credit black women for their contributions to pop culture as freely/quickly as they reward others. We are huge trendsetters, not second class citizens that get thrown crumbs.”
“This isn’t anger. This is #information. It’s all love to MTV. Kisses to my fans and thank you for my 3 nominations.”
