Kris Jenner, mother of Kim Kardashian, was forced to scrap a TV appearance on Monday after suffering an allergic reaction to an insect bite.

Jenner was scheduled to appear on Bachelor in Paradise: After Paradise, but had to pull out at the last minute after her lips swelled up.

The 59-year-old Keeping Up With The Kardashians star called into the show and explained her absence to host Chris Harrison, saying, “Nobody’s more sorry than I am, because I’m, like, your biggest superfan, by the way… A couple of years ago… we were in the Dominican Republic, and I got bitten by something. And my lip blew up like the size of a – God knows what – a tire on my face.

“And the same thing happened this morning! I got up, and we just came back from St. Barts – we were on a family vacation filming our show about a week ago – and I feel like, I don’t know what happened. I feel like I got a bite on my face and, like, half of my face blew up.”

Jenner, who attended the MTV Video Music Awards on Sunday night with members of her extended family, called a doctor in a bid to recover in time for her TV appearance, adding, “They gave me everything they could possibly give me in 12 hours. It went down a little bit, but not quite enough. I’m a little too vain, I think, to go on live TV with a huge lip.”
